Last year we got the opportunity to revive the memorable Hillclimb at Nieuwpoort, Curacao, which was a resounding success. Accordingly, for this year we moved it to the month of April, which has been the period it was historically held in. Hence forth, the race, now re-named Hillclimb Curacao, will be held each year in April, with a couple of closed test sessions held in the second half of each year.
Documents retrieved from the archives of the Motorsports Museum have the first Hillclimb taking place in 1965, possibly organized from its inception by the Automobiel Club Curacao (ACC) at Nieuwpoort on Ascension holiday. The race always attracted large crowds of motorsports fans, until in 1987 the organizers decided that that would be the events’ last year.
