Not only was Count von Trips a well known racer in the 1950’s, with two F1 wins to his name, he was also involved in the promotion of young race drivers and tried to pass on his experience to the younger generation.
In the beginning of the ’60’s von Trips established a go kart track in Kerpen, Germany. The track was later leased by Rolf Schumacher, whose sons Michael and Ralph made their first laps there.
